The most valuable experience for me in the SNU-LG Press Fellowship was learning how other countries' press systems work, and also learning about their cultures, politics and
everyday lives. These are things we don't get to know in our own country and as a journalist it is important to have such knowledge not just to compare experiences but also to draw lessons from them. It is also gratifying to be with colleagues from around the world who share the same experiences -- plus they are nice people!

I value the experience of attending lectures again in a university setting and Seoul National University is such a beautiful campus that is conducive to learning and opening up to new ideas and experiences. In his first lecture, Prof. Choo underscored the importance of keeping one's ideals as a journalist in today's modern times, when everything is changing so fast. It was good to be reminded of why we became journalists in the first place and our role in society. The lectures were great -- especially contemporary journalism, online journalism and Korea's economy -- since they encouraged discussion (and a lot of laughter sometimes) among the fellows even when we did not always have the same opinions.

That the fellowship is four weeks long let us experience what contemporary Korea is really about. I had been to the country twice before, but it is only now that I have begun to understand it -- from a journalist's point of view, not from a tourist. I have seen how kind the people are here, how generous, friendly and sincere.

The trips out of Seoul showed me how beautiful Korea is. All the places we went to are mountainous and I am just amazed by the people and the landscapes. The experiences at the DMZ was very eye-opening, so too were the trips to LG, SBS and Dong-A Ilbo in giving me an understanding of how and why the country's technology is developing so rapidly and how it is creating an entirely new lifestyle that is forcing the media to reinvent itself. Our lecture on online journalism was particularly enlightening since most of our countries do not yet have to deal with the challenges facing Korea's newspapers.

I think I am beginning to understand Koreans and very their curious practices and am both amazed and amused by them. During this fellowship, I have seen things that I had never before seen in any other Asian country or in the world.

For this experience, I will always be grateful.
